Joel was one of the original members of the famous TIME Life Magazine photo shoot in Ottumwa, IA outside the original Twin Galaxies arcade.
He was best known for scores on Frenzy, and Berzerk, where he holds a number of world records on both the Fast and Slow versions.
Joel’s was always quick with a comment, with his most famous quote is from the documentary “Chasing Ghost: Beyond the Arcade”:
“You can teach a monkey how to play a certain number of rooms, but you cannot teach a man how to play ‘Berzerk.’”
